Today WePoetsShowIt showcased a poem I wrote about the great man Naoto Matsumura who stayed behind to care for the animals after the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
This video shows the story of Matsumura-san:
You can find my poem “Ode to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster” here.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this. I did not know about him, and I’m glad I do now. Also, your poem is absolutely stunning! If you don’t mind, I’d like to use it with my students.
Isn’t he amazing?! Aw, Deborah, thank you so much for your kind comment. What a compliment. By all means, share it with your students. I’m so glad they will be learning about this special man.
You make writing poetry seamless and effortless, but I realize it is very challenging! I am wishing I could move from the impetus, or beginning, like you used “Twilight Zone” television show, the way the world would look after a holocaust or nuclear disaster, into a true story of a dedicated man who helped take care of the animals left behind… in such a way to make it all flow so well. So marvelous! I loved this, Luanne!
Aw, I’m soooo glad you loved it, Robin! I really want to share his story with people. I think he’s so amazing!
