Until April

Four years ago the gardener and I visited Costa Rica. The pandemic started while we were there. In our hotel room, someone who cleaned our room left a small bottle of sanitizer. I remember being so grateful as I cleaned our airplane trays, etc., on the way home.

While in Costa Rica, I heard some stories that have inspired my own writing. One of my stories, a 50 word dribble called “Aftermath of a Childhood Accident,” was published in 50 Give or Take (hint: it has howler monkeys in it):

I have been writing every day since February 1, and for the last three weeks taking care of my baby grandson every day while his parents are at work. I have other stuff going on, too, so I probably won’t post until in the early part of April.

  1. Wow, you are busy!! Enjoy the baby!

  2. Congratulations on the story, and on your baby-busy life!

  3. Enjoy your grandson!

  4. After visiting Costa Rica, would you consider living there?

    • Probably not, although I will say the people I met were very nice. But living there wouldn’t be for me, and a lot of ocean near the shore is polluted where we were which was in Guanacaste.

  5. What a great little story! Enjoy your grandson and dreaming time!!

  6. You are having a busy start to spring!!! Enjoy that precious little one! These grandchildren grow up quick…just like our own kids did! 🙂

  7. See you in April and in the meantime, enjoy that grand baby

  8. I love the “50 more or less” concept …

  9. I’ve heard people talk positively about Costa Rico. Enjoy your time goofing off with your grandbaby.

  10. Congratulations on the publication of your dribble! You’re on a roll!! See you in April.

  11. Another publication – congratulations! Enjoy your time with grandson and the blog break.

You have been incredibly productive! And taking care of a newborn while writing? Unimaginable. Enjoy your time until April (which seems right around the corner).

  13. Thank you for this, Luanne! Your images are beautiful, we spent some time near Tulum in Mexico and your photos brought back some lovely memories…

  14. Congratulations on another publication. I hope your creative boost continues.

  15. Luanne, that is an intriguing story and wonderful photos. Enjoy your baby grandson. <3

  16. Ok, Luanne…I don’t know how you keep your grandson and keep a busy writing schedule!! I am envious of those early days…I always thought I would prefer the walking, talking granddaughters – but clearly I was unprepared for what they would say to me!!
    Hang on!!

    • So I took your advice! Yeah. I am appreciating what he is each day. And I guess I fell madly in love. The gardener has made a couple of comments about how smitten I appear to be :). I do think ahead about things I want to do with him, but I am enjoying him in the moment. But it’s a heavy schedule at my age. LUCKILY for me, I have a helper. My pet sitter comes in to give me a break most days so while I can’t rest as I need to get work done or a walk or 30 minutes of writing, it means I can actually do something else. But we’re getting lots of songs in . . . .
