The heat is up again in Arizona, but that just brings the birds out more as they scramble for water. The gardener has a fountain obsession, so we have plenty of water for these guys.
Here’s the little fountain with the little birds.
And here’s the big fountain with the big bird–in this case a roadrunner.
It’s labor day, and I am going to take a nap today. After all, I wrote a poem and babysat my daughter’s cat this week. Love and hugs and all!
Great idea, Luanne. It’s time to take a rest this weekend. Your birds are certainly grateful for your water fountains! I hope all’s well, too.
We are ok. I hope you are, too, Patti. Keeping my eye on that afternoon nap ;)!
I took one, Luanne, and it was great!!
Sweet!
Yes, they are! They also seemed less likely to fly or scoot away so quickly, as if they were claiming the fountain and not going to leave until they absolutely had to.
Happy Labor Day!
You too, Pam. Hope you are well!
Stay cool!
I’m trying!!! Happy birthday to your younger daughter!!!
Water is precious for birds! Have a great nap. I may join you.
They certainly are loving it! Thank you. Please do!!! We deserve it.
We have a small fountain and it’s fun to watch the birds bathe in it. A nap sounds like a lovely idea. You deserve it!
I do even if I say so myself LOL. Haven’t done it yet. But I plan to this afternoon!
Fountains are wonderful for the birds. The gardener puts a lot of work into cleaning the leaves and stuff out of the fountains, keeping them nice.
Hope you’re feeling better now, after that flu shot.
Do you get the flu shot? I hadn’t been getting it because of how sick I get. But Covid, you know. The thing is, it only lasts 24 hours though, so not too bad. 🙂
No, never. I hope I never feel so much at risk that I would reconsider.
Usually I don’t feel that I am “out there” enough to get one so it didn’t matter, but with Covid, you know–unlike you I live in a city of almost 5 million people. That is WITHOUT the snow bird count.
Can’t hurt to be extra careful in your case.
You certainly deserve a nap, Luanne.
LOL, yes, I agree! Happy Labor Day, John!
Happy Labor Day, Luanne
Hope you had a good nap! 😀 Nice fountains and birds!
I’ve been seeing friends in the west posting about the heat there.
The heat is coming down. And I got no nap yesterday. I had to work after all. So grumpy about it. Hope your weather is pleasant!
My son is here from Arizona and the day he and his S.O. got here, there temps went up and are staying up till the day they leave. What does that say? I haven’t had a nap since they got here and I’m getting cranky and tired. My son’s nickname was Roadrunner but I’ve barely been able to see the bird running by much less get such a great shot of one.
This roadrunner was so thirsty. It’s the first time I’ve seen one standing there for so long. He looks a little bedraggled, too, I think, but maybe they always are ;).
Your son must be gone now because our temps are headed down FINALLY. So grateful for that!
So that nap of mine? I never got it! I ended up having to work instead. Grrr.
Same here re the nap. ;( Son heads home Friday a.m. Autumn follows as they leave. 🙂
I never got mine that day, but I did a couple of days later–how ridiculous is that?! Today might be a good day for a nap, too . . . hmm.
Did you hear about Pauline’s passing? I am overcome with grief. I am working on a post for tomorrow, but will probably go with an “understated” post as I feel drained by this on top of the pandemic.
I wrote about Pauline on my post yesterday. She is family to us. She’s a year and 3 days younger than me. Devastated was what I felt. I am shocked and still processing. I told our friend Alys that she wasn’t supposed to go first.
I love your bird photos! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of a roadrunner before. A nap was very much on my mind today as I kept nodding off while grading assignments. Brava for writing a poem this week!
Thank you re the poem. Pretty proud of myself considering my week’s circumstances. I never got that stupid nap though. It won’t be today either. I will try again tomorrow!
Roadrunners usually trot by the window really fast, so this was special.
You’re welcome. I’ll confess (blushing) that I didn’t realize for a long time that roadrunners are a real bird. Here’s to naptime for tomorrow!
Hehe, I guess a lot of people have never experienced them! They are quite like their cartoon version ;). Except for the beep beep.
😀
Huh! Never seen a roadrunner. Had no idea they were a real bird. Thought it was just a Disney cartoon character, beep-beep.
Hehehe. Such a great character Roadrunner was, too. A real match for Wile E. Coyote. They are Looney Tunes characters :). Yup, real birds that run past our window really fast!!!! So this was special to have him stand there and allow photos to be taken.
Love, love, love the roadrunner! <3 Happy napping. 🙂
Guess what? I never got that durn nap. I ended up having to work. And today is a big work day being like a Monday. I’m so mad and still need the nap.
Isn’t it cool that the little guy held still? they always run so fast!
All work and no naps makes Luanne a cranky woman…I have informed the universe that you are going to take a nap, period, end of discussion, and it can just deal with it. So there.
I finally got a nap a few days later and now I am cranky again. Nap today would be good.
A nap a day keeps the cranky away? 😉
No nap today. I am looking at Thursday now hahahaha.
Ruh-roh. The gardener better be on his best behavior. 😉
I told him you said so!
It’s hot here too on the Texas Gulf Coast, but we had a thunderstorm this morning. We needed it.
That can be so refreshing. We have had no little of that this year!!! Almost no monsoon!
Waiting for rain again. Had to water tonight (Sunday).
That is so annoying. Or when you water and THEN it rains.
The birds must be ultra-happy in such hot weather to have something to drink when they want it. 🙂
I just watched a couple of videos of roadrunners, and it occurred to me I’d never seen the real bird, only the animated one!
By the responses here i am thinking you are in the majority about roadrunners! They are very cute in their shape and how they are always so busy running past.
It’s great that you have a selection of fountains! Hope you enjoyed your nap.
Finally got one a couple days later, so yes, I did. Now I need another!!! Hope you are well, Andrea.
How lovely! I enjoy when the birds go to our garden fountain to sip water too.
I saw some cuties in the little fountain again today! They are so frisky haha!
