If you happen to be in the Phoenix area this Friday, please come hang out with me at {9} The Gallery! There will be an open mic, and then I will read from Doll God and Kin Types. I’ll have copies of Doll God to sign for a discounted price of $10 (regular $14).

This series is pulled together by the wonderful Phoenix poet Shawnte Orion.
Let’s hope I don’t screw up too badly.
Make it a great week!
You will be fabulous! (I just know it.) I wish I could be there.
Stay cool. 🙂
I wish you could, too! Thanks, Merril!
🙂
Good luck, Luanne. I’m sure you won’t screw up. But, writers do suffer from “stage fright,” including anxiety about “bequeathing”
work they have labored over to the faceless, often indifferent or critical public.
Hah, I know that I am very susceptible to stage fright. I used to get it for drama and dance. For readings, it probably depends on the situation. I hope this isn’t one of them!
Good Luck Luanne, I hope it goes very well 🙂
Ah thanks, Andrea. I sure hope so.
Don’t forget your scarf! You’ll do great. 🙂
I’m actually worried about that! It’s too hot for a scarf! Panic . . . .
Can you wear a sleeveless turtleneck?
I don’t even own one because of the weather here. Just so so hot. I might not make it through an hour of open mic before my reading with a turtleneck. I might pass out haha. Maybe I will wear big earrings ;).
Maybe a lightweight summery scarf?
I just snagged one from my daughter’s old clothes!
Wouldn’t it be great (for me) f I could come!
I would love it!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too!
I would get quite nervy when giving talks back in the day …… then I would remember that everyone there had come to have a good time, to hear something uplifting and me being nervous would screw that up, so let’s have fun folks!! Have fun Luanne and they will too. 🙂
I will really try to be slightly entertaining! Thanks so much!
Best wishes. I’d love to be there.
I wish you could be!!!
Wish I could be there – you will be fabulous!!
I hope the event goes well
Thanks, Derrick!
Good luck! I’d be there if I lived anywhere nearby. I know how nerve-wracking this can be, but you’ll be wonderful.
Ah, thank you so much. We will see haha.
Luanne, I hope your reading event goes well!
Thank you, Theresa!
I hope it all went really well, Luanne! I would have loved to have been there xxx
It went well! Thanks, Dianne! xo
Hope you had a great reading!
Glad to hear that it went well, Luanne. It is so uncomfortable to do something like that in extreme heat. Congratulations!
Luanne, this already happened but I definitely listened to your reading Doll God awhile back. Your voice is very special and the way an author reads their own material makes a big difference!
Hope the turnout was exceptional, like You are! xo 💐
Oh, thank you so much, Robin. It was a smallish turnout because July in Phoenix is not a good time–way too hot and people on vacation. Oh well, hopefully there will be another time, and I had fun anyway. The people who did come are special to me.
Thank you for this personal note. I would be like you, appreciating those who came out in the heat. I hope next time more will be there. Kin Types is on my Fall list. . . to purchase. 🌞 💐
I have no doubt that this went beautifully, like everything you do.
You are so nice! (and such a big storyteller 😉 heh)
