Three Stories in MacQueen’s Quinterly

What a lovely surprise this morning. The fabulous EIC of MacQueen’s Quinterly, Clare MacQueen, has published three of my stories in the new journal issue. This is one of my favorite lit mags because Clare has a very eclectic taste, so the magazine offers so much variety, including funny stories and syllabic poetry.

Here are links to my stories:

Very micro humor story: http://www.macqueensquinterly.com/MacQ23/Castle-New-One.aspx

Surreal flash story: http://www.macqueensquinterly.com/MacQ23/Castle-Mountain-Painting.aspx

Creative nonfiction/memoir childhood story: http://www.macqueensquinterly.com/MacQ23/Castle-Haunted-Childhood.aspx

  1. Congratulations!!!!

  2. Congratulations, Luanne

  3. Oh, that childhood one!

  4. You are getting so famous, Luanne! Well done!

  5. Oh WOW, this is fabulous, Luanne! 😍

  6. Congratulations on the publication of your three stories, Luannw. I enjoyed reading them, although the third one was painful at the end.

  7. Excellent news, Luanne – what a way to start your day!

  8. Three intriguing stories Luanne. The first gave me a laugh out loud with the unusual twist. The second – interesting perspective. And the third, such a wonderful childhood snap.
Congratulations on publication! I am on a dog-sit at the moment and treating it as a writer’s retreat. The commissioning editor of a major traditional publisher liked the first half of my novel Louisa (formerly Louisa’s Legacy). He is mentoring me – gratis! – to change the second half to slant towards historical romance (but not bodice-ripping like Bridgerton which I have just started watching – this house has Netflix).
I took the bait, as his offer extends to my following works. I’ve already had to change so much of Louisa’s real story that I now have a nonfiction MS sitting in the wings.
So! This really now is a work of fiction, but placed in a true historical content and surrounding characters.

    • Gwen, what a great idea for a writer’s retreat–hahaha. Is the dog helping you as an assistant? “Bad page!” you say and he grabs it and eats it!
Wow, what a journey you have been on with that book! I am excited for it to come out and read it!!!!

      • Luanne, years, and years, and years spent on writing one book! In hindsight though, I guess I had to do that to get where I am now. And there is a spillover of two manuscripts in the wings. Oddly enough, there is sometimes a bad paragraph, or an idea that leads into a dead end, but so far I haven’t had to ask the dog to eat an entire page 🙂

Raven, who I think is a King Charles Spaniel/Poodle cross is gorgeous, and we are in danger of handing him back very spoiled (I am sharing with another writer friend. The house is enormous so we each have one self-contained level). So lovely to have a pet after so many years of “being practical” – (husband’s point of view).

  9. They’re great. Congrats!!

  10. Those are great, Luanne. Your fiction just gets better and better! 👏

  11. I read each one. They are awesome ❤️

  12. Your creativity always astonishes and delights me!

  13. Amy

You are amazing! How do you have time to do all this writing AND taking care of Hudson?

  14. Congratulations Luanne, great pieces. I like the humorous twist of the first one, the eerie mystery of the second – and I can feel the shame in the third one!
