Furry Grandbabies

I am a fur grandma all over again. And again. My daughter and  son-in-law adopted two kitten sisters.  Last July, their dear cat Izzie died quite unexpectedly. They didn’t want to get a cat leading up to their wedding because they were so busy, but daughter has been jonesing for a cat.  She knows it is better for the kittens if two are adopted together. I’ve taught her well. Cute enough?

So now I am the proud Grandma of 4 cats and 3 dogs (between both my kids). Most of my cats weren’t interested in meeting these babies, but Perry was. When he sat next to their carrier and looked in at them from above, my daughter said, “Looks like in ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,’ with his big head and their little bodies.”

  1. Congratulations on the furry grandbabies, and I look forward to this Saturday!

  2. Oh, what are their names???

  3. Congrats grandma!

  4. LOVE the kittens, Luanne! They are really too cute!! I think they will bring joy wherever they are…congratulations!

    • Thank you! I can’t wait until they are old enough for me to babysit over here. Perry will help me take care of them. I knew he would love babies.

  5. Congratulations, Luanne! Gorgeous grand-tabbies! 😻

    • Thanks, Stephanie! They are so beautiful. Dilute classic gray and ginger tabbies. I could have predicted this. Daughter’s kitty who passed away last summer was a gray tabby.

  6. Such cute little ones, Luanne. Break a leg Saturday.

  7. So sweet! They will be happy cats, having each other to cuddle with when the people are out or busy.

    • I agree. I think they will always be happy. They have a good mommy, a good daddy, and a good doggie sister, too. and grandma here waiting for the chance to babysit hah!

  8. Congratulations, Grandma 😉 Oh, to be young enough to adopt KITTENS!! At our age (speaking just for me and my husband), we worry about Raji outliving us since he’s only about two and we are ancient. Well, he’s definitely incentive for us to stay healthy and live as long as possible. Looking forward to poetry reading on Saturday 🙂

    • Haha, I know exactly what you mean. Too much energy!!! And they have a dog, too. I used to worry about that when older (I mean people in their 80s) adopted young cats or kittens from the shelter. I thought it was selfish since the animal may well outlive them. But then taking care of senior animals can be a lot of work. So I don’t know what is right. Raji is going to keep you two young, though :). Kinda like Perry. Unless he wears me out first hahaha! Thank you so much for signing up for the reading, Marie. So happy you will be there! Makes me feel less anxious, you know?

  9. Quite adorable! How fun for you all, Luanne. Eager to find out what they will be named. 🙂

  10. They are adorable!

  11. They are quite a pair!

  12. Those kittens are the cutest! ❤🐱
I look forward to the Blogosphere presentation!! 📣🎉

  13. They are adorable. I would love to be a pet grandma but it’s not in my cards. I’m destined to watch cute videos on Facebook.

    • That’s what the gardener’s cousin does because her husband is allergic to cats. She loves cats, so follows her pic I post and all the cat vids online she can find.

  14. Absolutely adorable!!!!!

So smart to get two from a litter! We have done that with our last two adoptions, and now I wonder why we never did before. Enjoy!

    • Yes, it really makes sense with kittens. After all, they are used to being with other kittens. At the shelter where I used to volunteer our cat director made a rule that kittens could only be adopted in a minimum of twos. There are a lot of reasons, but in general it’s just better for the kittens. Sometimes it wasn’t even siblings that went together. it was that they were used to other kittens. I personally do not do kittens. Their little claws are not the best for a medical condition that I have, and I love adopting full-grown cats. But this way i get to enjoy kittens without having them around me all the time! hah

Sadly I’ve reached the age where next time we won’t get kittens. I’ve never adopted an adult cat, but know that I need to do that once I am in my 70s…

        • The adult cats at the shelter will love you for it :). The only time I ever had a kitten was when I was a little girl and brought home a kitten from across the street. No need to worry if they will grow to love you if they are adults hahaha. They will!

          • Amy

Since we’ve always had at least one mature cat, I have always assumed it would be easier for the older cat to accept a new kitten than another mature cat. But maybe that’s wrong. Plus I do love kittens!

  16. Those two kittens are adorable. And no trouble, of course. Won’t be climbing on everything in sight!

  17. Congratulations on those kittens! They are adorable! 🙂

  18. I’m so envious, Luanne. Look at those angel faces. Enough to melt your heart! I wonder how Vivian would react to a kitten?
Best wishes on your poetry reading today. 😊

  19. They are so cute! And so glad Perry connected with them. Our kids’ dog Ella is our dog Evangeline’s crush 🙂

  20. Kittens, I’m fainting with pleasure at the sight of ’em!!

  21. Such adorable kittens! 🙂
