Wow, The Hemlock published two of my tiny stories–and I didn’t even know they were accepted. Great surprise today! A big thank you to the editors.
The link below will take you to the Summer Issue 2024 for downloading. My stories are on pages 35 and 36.
Here are the stories. The first one is very surreal, but I am very partial to its weirdness. The second one is much more realistic. Hope you enjoy them!

I revel in weirdness, Luanne! Great stuff!
Haha, oh, best comment ever! Thanks, Amie!
Very concisely written, Wonderful job!
Thanks, Anneli! 🙂
Well done. The Hemlock likes weird
Hahahahaha! Yes, they definitely like weird!!!!
Luanne, congratulations and what a great surprise for you! 😀 I love the weirdness of the first and both so well written! Well done!
Thanks, Annika! So happy you love the weirdness haha!
What a great surprise for you – and wild entertainment for your readers, too!!
I think you captured the woman at the cash register to perfection – that’s just the expression often seen by customers…well done.
Thanks, Sheila. Sari has reasons for her bad attitude, but if we bought something at her concession we might be unhappy with that attitude!
Congratulations! These are two very strange stories, especially the first! I am not sure what to make of it. The second one I definitely understand 😊
Thank you! Haha, yeah, well, the first one is different. But Hendrix has a comfort level with what he’s comfortable with. A lot of people are like that.
Congratulations on your publication! I felt for poor Sari.
Thanks, Liz. Yeah, it’s easy to be angry when someone treats you the way Sari treats her customers, but we don’t know what their lives are like.
You’re welcome, Luanne. You are so right about that.
My head is reeling, clockwise then counterclockwise — in a good way. Congratulations! 🕚
Hah, thank you!
Congratulations on the publications Luanne, two unique stories.
Congratulations, Luanne! Great stories! Yes, the first one is surreal, but still has a thick layer of real life, the contrast with the second story being that Bristly really identified with his job and Sari can’t stand hers.
Marie, good point about the jobs!!! Thank you so much!!!
