Grateful to Tipton Poetry Journal and editor Barry Harris for publishing one of my Little Red poems.
Thanks for meeting me for coffee
Thrilled to get one of my reds in this journal. The poem is on page 12 of the document, which is page 6 of the journal. Here is how it begins.
These are tag pouches I made with trash, specifically tea bags and price tags.
Congratulations on your poem! I like those tag pouches…so creative! ๐
Thank you, Linda. Those tags were so much fun to make! I will use these inside of a journal at some point.

Another little red riding hood story! I actually never liked that she had to be saved by the hunter. ๐ One question: when I looked on the Tipton site to read the entire poem, it was formatted as a prose paragraph, not in lines like a poem as in the image you inserted. Is that a mistake?
Bizarre. It looks normal to me and this is a screenshot from the issue! There are variations where she has more agency, both American picture books and older and non European versions. Some are more gruesome!
Maybe it’s my laptop. Or my eyes….
My vision is causing all sorts of trouble recently. :/
Oh, no…what is going on?
Now I’ve got the lightning and floaters and all manner of moving parts in both eyes, plus my vision is getting worse. It’s not a tragedy, but so annoying. At least, I think, that for now my macular degeneration hasn’t worsened and I don’t have the familial glaucoma, so I’m all set :). Oh, and not yet ready for cataract surgery. This getting old stuff is for the birds.
Uch, so sorry. I’ve had floaters and flashes, but they settled down. My ophthalmologist said it comes with aging. Just what we all want to hear. Hang in there.
I keep waiting for mine to settle down! Yes, we all need to hang in there. You too with your foot, etc.
I recall once reading about the sexuality in fairy tales and Red Riding Hood and the wolf were mentioned as examples.
Those generally originated in the public realm with the work of Bruno Bettelheim. Freudian stuff. Iโm not a big fan and if you read the Wikipedia on him he was more about constructing himself than scholarship though he was an interesting character. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Bettelheim
Yes, Bettelheim was either who I read or more likely a summary of his thoughts by someone else.
His theories were very popular for a long time.
I love the tags! Congratulations on the poem, Luanne!
Thank you so much, Jill. I can’t tell you how much fun it was to make those tags!
Fun is good! ๐ They’re cute!
Congratulations, Luanne! Perfect final line.
Thanks, Merril. We’ve all got stories!
Indeed! ๐
You took the words right out of my mouth, Merril! Congratulations, Luanne. The last line is perfect.
Congratulations! I like the new take on Ms. R R Hood.
Thanks, Ellen! I’m glad you like it :).
Congratulations once again, Luanne!
Love the poem, love the project idea! Congrats, Luanne!

Ah, a fresh take on Red Riding Hood as a way to unburden your own story. I love it, and admire your creativity. Congratulations on getting published.
Congrats on the poem! That must feel marvelous . . .
