Yesterday I opened an email listing the Finalists for the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards and dismally scrolled through it, sure that Doll God was overlooked.
But it WASN’T! It’s a Finalist! That was really wonderful news to get at the end of the week. Buy it here haha:
A week that has been a little rough. Remember my dear Nakana I brought home from the shelter two months ago? Suddenly her liver values have jumped dramatically. That apparently is BAD in cats. More tests on Monday . . . . Please send prayers or good vibes for her, if you are willing.

Luanne, this is GREAT news about Doll God – I am thrilled for you! I know exactly what that means to have your work validated by your peers. I am not surprised – it is worthy! I wish you continued success with the book and the many more to follow.
On a sadder note, I am so sorry about your rescued cat. I will be sending good vibes to you from South Carolina and hope that she will get better. She is adorable.
Sometimes life is up and sometimes down – bittersweet when those times converge.
Thanks so much, Sheila!!! Yes, Kana is going to have an abdominal ultrasound on Monday to see what is wrong. It would be the best if the test results were a lab error . . . .
I hope so, Luanne…
So excited to hear about Doll God! Well done.
And I hope all goes well with the kitty on Monday. No binge drinking over the weekend for cats!
Thank you Elyse! Haha. I am keeping my eyes on her all weekend!!!
You deserve it! That’s wonderful news. And hoping Miss N returns to normal soon.,
Sue, thank you so much for your good wishes!!!
Luanne–so sorry to hear about Nakana. I hope it’s just some sort of fluke. She is such a cutie–love her little bunny toy. 🙂
But congratulations on Doll God! What great news. Woo hoo!
She’s adorable, honestly. Thank you so much!!!
Yes, a fluke, some a stupid error.
It happens. . .

Hope this test is just help for Nakana to get whatever care she needs. Thank goodness she has you!
Michelle, she’s going to have an abdominal ultrasound. I so hope this is all some stupid mistake. I’m glad she has me, too, honestly.
Thanks so much!!!
My congratulations to you and prayers for Nakana. -C.D.
Thank you so much, Carole! Nakana is sleeping here so sweetly!
Whooo hooo—I own a copy of a finalist book!!!! You’ll have to let us know if you ever do a book signing in the Ohio-Pennsylvania-NY area, Luanne!
Your beautiful kitty—hope things are better than anticipated.
Pam, woot!! Oh, that WOULD be nice to have a reading/signing there (and elsewhere, too)! Thanks so much re Nakana. She is such a darling and now finally has a forever home and now THIS.
At least, at LEAST, she has a loving family’s support….😕
So sorry to hear about your cat, but big congrats on the finalist award. That’s wonderful!

Congratulations on being a finalist! I’ve entered my book in a couple of competitions, but never got to the finalist stage, so I can only imagine how psyched you’re feeling right now 🙂 Also, sending good vibes your cat’s way!
Congrats on the book, and I wish Nakana well
I’m thrilled re: “Doll God”!! So deserved for “Doll God” to be a finalist —> and WINNER!! It is a winner to me already.
I’m sorry re: Nakana’s liver issues. Poor baby! I hope she feels better soon.

Hurray! Great news about the book!

Congratulations Luanne!! And sorry that your good news is marred by the worrying situation with your sweet kitty.
Luanne, so sorry for your Nakana having high liver values. She is a sweet, calm and lovable cat who looks regal in her photograph. Of course, I will be happy to keep you, hubby (I still worry about his good challenges) and Nakana. ♡
Congratulations on your much deserved Finalist award!! You have my belief in your making it to the top, Luanne. I made a decoration on the next post, sending you diamonds and roses, if possible. xo
When I reread this above comment, please let your husband know when I said I would keep him and Kana- – I meant in my prayers. He for his food challenges ( not “good” challenges as written in this comment.) She fir hee health.
Hoping to hear you are the #1 finalist, Luanne. Hugs, Robin
Luanneskihead – A million congrats on having Doll God on the Finalist list! Just terrific!! Am sending loving prayers and thoughts and vibes for Nakana’s health…may she not suffer… Warm hugs and much love, Jody (Jamming on Dry Water, Blue Clouds; trying to figure out ‘narrative voice,’ just began my one-on-one mentorship with Otis) xx
Congratulations on Doll God becoming a finalist. I hope your cat feels better soon.
Congratulations on “Doll God”! That’s great news. 🙂
Two of my cats had fatty liver disease. One, we did not catch early enough, and she passed away. The other, we recognized the symptoms and, with a lot of perseverance and a great vet, she pulled through. She lived to be about 17, and died of natural causes/old age one evening. I’m sure your beautiful Nakana can pull through too.
Well done, Luanne. And I hope Nakana picks up soon. xxx
Congrats, Luanne! Well-deserved. xo
Congratulations … again!! Such great news and such sad news. I am hoping and praying and keeping my fingers crossed that whatever Nakana has is easily treatable.
One word Luanne Yay!
