Serena at Savvy Verse & Wit has given a lovely review of Kin Types. Her favorite poem of the collection is mine, too, about my great-grandmother Cora, “What Lies Inside.”
Go HERE for the review.

I hope everyone who celebrates has a person or persons to be with tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Here’s a photo of another woman in Kin Types, my paternal grandmother–with her son, my father’s twin brother, at our house for Thanksgiving in the early 70s. She is the one who owned the mailbox marker in A Sign to Remember
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Congratulations on the review. Happy Thanksgiving as well, Luanne.
Thanks, John! Enjoy your holiday!
You as well.
Very nice review, Luanne. Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.
Thanks, Anneli. Eat some of your good baked goods in celebration with us below you haha!
All right!!!!
That’s a great review Luanne – and a poem that makes me want to know more! <3
Thanks, Pauline! Excited about you-know-what!
I’m just taking a break from hunting. Guess what I’ve found ……. real coral beads! Oh this is going to be magnificent!!
Oh wow!!!!!
I’m so thrilled for you getting all these well-deserved and wonderful reviews, Luanne. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much, Merril! I hope your holiday was fabulous!
It was fun–older daughter and her wife are here visiting. 🙂
Enjoy!
Luanne, congrats on another review for Kin Types! cute photo. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much, Theresa! Was yours good? Mine was turkeyless. I goofed. Turkey will now be Sunday haha.
Oh, I love that – you’re getting a long Thanksgiving out of it, yay! We have a tradition of making Cornish Game Hens, which are small (~2 lbs) and are easier to gauge when they are thawed out and when they are cooked. Plus each person gets their own little chicken, kind of cute. We made mashed potatoes for 5 using 5 or 6 russet potatoes, which I thought would be too much, but we had none left over. And broccoli and those butterflake roles from the grocery store. Our only “mistake” was having an inexcusable surfeit of dessert – I made a flourless chocolate cake, and then we also made a cherry pie (which my son likes) with pre-made pie crusts and canned cherry filling, and then my daughter and partner/boyfriend made a from-the-pumpkin pumpkin pie. Too much, too much, for 5 people! Aurgh! 🙂 Next time I won’t give in to the cake AND pie gremlin!
The photos you include — whether old or new — are always lovely. I especially liked your grandmother and uncle’s smiling faces. And I liked looking at how the table was set. I have a gravy boat in that same shape but in a different pattern. It’s a gravy boat that holds a lot of gravy, a gravy boat for a big gathering of relatives.
I look forward to reading the review. It’s a pleasure to get other writer’s insights into a book I love.
I don’t even recognize that gravy boat because it’s not the one that matched the China.
Excellent review – plus I always love the pictures of the women!
Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
Having the dinner soon! I made an unfortunate error in denial. Hence, the turkey wasn’t thawed until this morning. Actually, there was a Series of Unfortunate Errors. All on me. Was your whole weekend a good one?! Thanks you re the pix. They are lovelies!
The weekend was good – had a basketball tournament to watch thank goodness since both my football teams lost…
I just hate it when there’s a Series of Unfortunate Errors…all on me…bless your heart.
I am thankful for you!
I’m thankful for you, too, Sheila! Sooners are doing great!
Yes, it is Boomer Sooner this year for sure!! Congrats!
Yuppers, it’s a good year for the Sooners!
What a great nostalgic photo and congratulations on the review, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Thanks, Andrea. We are celebrating tonight. Waiting for the stock to finish for the gravy . . . . I made some errors that caused a delay in our dinner ;).
What a nice photo, Luanne!
Thanks, Carla! I have so many old family photos now (all the branches on my mother’s side have been funneled to me), but the responsibility has come. I have to figure out who to give them to once all is organized and digitized. The first decision will be: do I split them up and give to many of the younger generation or do I keep the whole collection together? Sigh. I can see where all it takes is one wrong person, and a family’s history is lost.
