Poem Up at Masticadores USA

Masticadores USA has published a new poem, “Before and Again.” A big thank you to Editor Barbara Leonhard. I hope you like the poem. This one is a little heavy.

Here is the first 1 1/2 stanzas:

The we of my belief lived in a land
of easy comfort, brief and surface woundings,
even when tussled by history
that lasted a month on our portable television.

We swept the broken pieces into piles
Thinking our bonfires would destroy memories.

  1. Congratulations, Luanne!

  2. Congratultions on the publication of your poem, Luanne! I just read it and found it moving, albeit, dark.

  3. Congratulations from me, too, Luanne. So apt for our times

  4. Congratulations, Luanne! Wow, it is a dark poem. As Derrick notes, it is perfect for our times.

  5. Amy

Now these images are quite a contrast to the desert images in the poem I just read. So powerful.

    • Thank you, Amy. It’s definitely my darkest poem. And I imagine the images are so different because these are all truly metaphorical.

  6. Congratulations.
    Now I’m scared….

  7. The poem is very powerful, and beautiful, Luanne. Thank you.
